During Team Fortress 2's development, several turrets were designed and created, though they were all ultimately scrapped. They appear to be the descendants of the spawn room turrets from Team Fortress Classic.

Trivia

  • The miniturret and turret feature designs that don't match the current style of TF2, as they were placeholders recycled from Half-Life 1, another Valve game.
    • Both of these turrets have several animations in their respective model files, including deploying, firing, and dying.
    • The top of each turret has the word "DANGER" written on it. The larger turret also has a triangular red light.
  • A turret more in line with TF2's current art style was created, but all that remains of it is a texture sheet, seen as the middle picture in the second row in the gallery below.
