The Heavy-bot

Heavy Robots appear in Mann vs. Machine as enemies.

Normal Variants

Heavy

Minigun

The basic Heavy Robot, manufactured by Gray Mann. These robots are similar to the normal Heavy: big, tough, and packing a punch. The regular Heavy robot wields a Minigun, ripping anyone who dares to come too close to shreds. The Heavy robot often comes in small to medium sized waves, often accompanying other robots as support. They appear to have a delayed sense of enemy tracking, meaning that they will find it hard to hit a player dodging at close range.

This advanced variation of the Heavy robot is critboosted and deals 50% more damage much like Giant Heavies. These Heavy-bots appear near the end of wave 3 in Broken Parts along with pocket Über Medics (Type 2).

Deflector Heavy

The Deflector Heavy functions similarly to the regular Heavy robot, with the added benefit of being able to shoot down incoming projectiles that are in flight. It is discernible from the regular Heavy robot by its U-clank-a and green tracer firing effect rather than the usual yellow/orange. These robots are not found in the game's template files and only appear in the Expert Mannworks mission, Mannslaughter, on multiple waves.

This version of the Heavy robot wields a Shotgun that has faster reload speed and more pellets per shot. However, it does less damage and fires much slower.

The Heavyweight Champ is a pure melee variant of the Heavy robot, wearing the Pugilist's Protector. Although restricted to melee range, these robots often come in large numbers. The Heavyweight Champ comes in two different types. The first type wields the Killing Gloves of Boxing. These types are aggressive and, if not carrying the bomb, will seek out nearby players to punch and kill, gaining a crit-boost from their K.G.B. upon killing a player. The second variant wields the Gloves of Running Urgently, but without the changes made in the Jungle Inferno Update Patch, allowing them to move faster, but marked for death. These two robots will often ignore players entirely and make a beeline for the bomb instead.

Steel Gauntlet

Pictogram plus.png 900 HP

The Steel Gauntlet is similar to the Heavyweight Champ in the fact that it is a pure melee variant; however, the Steel Gauntlet can take an incredible amount of damage from ranged weapons due to its Fists of Steel and increased HP. If they are carrying the bomb, try to take them down as soon as it's safe to do so. If they're left unnoticed until they upgrade to level 2 and gain the ability to regenerate health, they may become a real threat to the team. At that point, they will have both the Fists of Steel's resistance, the bomb carrier's level 1 resistance upgrade, and the bomb carrier's level 2 regeneration upgrade. If a team accidentally leaves them to upgrade, focus fire on them to bring them down as soon as possible.

The Steel Gauntlet Pusher is a Steel Gauntlet that deals more damage. It also possesses the ability to deal knockback against players upon a successful hit. Because of this, hitting it with a melee weapon becomes a much harder task. Otherwise, they are identical. Be very careful when you're engaged in a melee combat and it's highly advised to never get close to them if they're grouped together.

Heavy Mittens

Heavy Mittens Holiday Punch
Holiday Punch
Pictogram plus.png 100% crit chance
Pictogram plus.png +30% faster movement speed
Pictogram minus.png 60 HP
Pictogram minus.png -80% damage dealt

The rare Heavy Mittens is another pure melee variant which possess increased speed and wields a permanent crit-boosted Holiday Punch. Spawning in small groups, they are unable to deal any damage, however any hit from them will force players to stand still and laugh, making them easier targets for other robots. They have been known to "Mob" players by ganging up on them, or to hang around a single laughing player and stun lock him. As such, it is advised to get rid of them before they get in melee range. The 80% damage penalty they possess causes this Heavy robot variant unable to instantly kill players without maximum health reduction and on full health with their taunt kills as their taunt kill only deals 100 damage. Having only 20% of a typical Heavy robot's HP, they are fairly easy to destroy. They only appear during certain waves of Data Demolition (Operation Steel Trap, Decoy).

Giant Variants

The Giant Heavy is a Giant version of the regular Heavy Robot. It wields an overclocked Minigun that does 50% more damage. The Giant Heavy acts largely the same as the regular Heavy robot and is occasionally accompanied by Medic Robots.

The Giant Deflector Heavy has all of the added benefits and negatives of the Giant Heavy, as well as the ability of its smaller counterpart to shoot down incoming projectiles. Like the Deflector Heavy, it can be identified by its U-clank-a and green tracer firing effect.

These robots share the same projectile destruction property as Deflector Heavy robots, with the added ability to restore 5,000 HP upon any successful kill. This makes them an extremely deadly force to deal with, though fortunately the first variant of the Giant Heal-on-Kill Deflector Heavy has its health bar displayed on screen even though it's not actually a boss (it has only 5,500 HP).

Pictogram minus.png -65% movement speed
Pictogram minus.png Cannot see past 1200 units

This variant of the Giant Heal-on-Kill Heavy has a serious programming error. They are meant to wield the Deflector that has the stats listed above, however the item has not been set in the template files, causing the robot to use the Minigun with default attributes.

While being the weakest giant heavy due to its reduced firepower, this robot has no maximum sight distance and is impossible to approach without bursting into flames or being gunned down.

This Gatebot variant of the Giant Heater Heavy has the same stats as the one mentioned before, except it deals 20% more damage before all gates are captured in Mannhattan, making it more versatile than the previous type when capturing gates.

Giant Shotgun Heavy

Wielding a smaller gun doesn't mean it's less harmful. In fact, it's the fastest Giant Heavy. Similar to its smaller counterpart, it wields a Shotgun and has the exact same bonuses and weaknesses as the regular Shotgun Heavy. However, it fires a lot more pellets per shot; being killed in one shot by this giant is not unusual. This robot can deal 448 damage at point-blank range. Extra caution should be taken around this robot. It is highly advised to combat it in medium range. Although it has been given an attribute to deflect projectiles, the attribute is not programmed to work with the Shotgun.

(Note: This robot's in-game name is only Giant Heal-On-Kill Heavy) This massive robot can tank 60,000 damage provided that it doesn't kill anyone. It gains 8,000 health on kill from 5,000 health on kill from its smaller counterpart. It only appears in the last wave of Empire Escalation (Operation Two cities, Mannhattan). Its appearance is accompanied with a group of Concheror Soldiers along with 4 Force-A-Nature Gatebot Super Scouts on the top floor 42 seconds after it's deployed. If it gets constant kills it can walk and capture both gates all by itself. If you don't think you can fight it without dying, it's best to avoid it, stay out of danger range, or simply use Uber Canteens if you're forced to. In desperate situations, suiciding is sometimes a better option than allowing it to gain health.

This Heavy has an extremely large health pool, combined with regeneration and innate ranged damage resistance from the Fists of Steel makes this behemoth the toughest robot in the entire game. Since melee resistance upgrade doesn't exist, there's no way to reduce its punching damage through upgrade stations. With the punching power of 325 HP per hit, it's capable of killing any non-overhealed class in a single, deadly blow. It's the final boss of the mission "Bone Shaker" (Operation Mecha Engine, Bigrock). As long as the constant flow of Snipers and Spies are dealt with, make sure to output as much damage as possible as its large health pool combined with the Fists of Steel's resistance makes it even tougher than the toughest tank. It's also slightly faster than a Tank. Due to this Heavy's insane amount of health, health regen and bone-crunching punches, melee fighting this bot is not recommended because you simply will not be able to deal enough damage. A Demoknight with max damage plus crits and Uber might be a viable option, since a fully upgraded critical swing from any of the Demo's swords that have a damage upgrade will deal 780 damage, assuming you have a shield equipped. A Spy is also a great option because backstabs deal double damage to this robot and Dead Ringer will let you to survive at least one hit.

Bugs

  • The non-gatebot version of the Shotgun Heavy robot is named Heavy Shotgun.

Unused content

  • The GRU Heavyweight Champ has a second, unused icon that was present in the game's files since the Mann vs. Machine mode launched.
  • The K.G.B. Heavyweight Champ originally had a RED fist icon similar to the GRU Heavyweight Champ's, but it was later changed to BLU.
  • Disabled code for the Heavy Mittens indicate the robot was to be 35% smaller and have the Point and Shoot and All-Father equipped, causing it to resemble a garden gnome; the code name for the Heavy Mittens is actually T_TFBot_Heavyweapons_Gnome.
  • Three unused variants of the Giant Heavy exist: one with the Brass Beast, one with Natascha, and one with the K.G.B. called "Super Heavyweight Champ".
  • There is an unused Deflector Heavy icon for a pusher Heavy, which suggests there were to be Minigun Heavies that knocked back players with each hit.
  • There is an unused non-gatebot version of the Chief Heal-on-Kill Heavy that exists in the template files.
  • Giant Heavies originally would have made a unique sound when they spawned in.
  • Giant Heavies that wield melee weapons have a fully functional animation for crit-boosted punches. They will swing their entire torso around, swinging their fists. Outside of custom missions, this is never seen, as the only giant heavy robot that is melee only is Captain Punch, but he is not crit-boosted, and the "Super Heavyweight Champ" giant is never used in any official missions.
