Killroy112233

Hi ~www~. I brought up the subject of User:Killroy112233 in the channel and a number of users and I went through his contribs and undid most of his edits. He has edited more Portuguese pages recently but he has been warned twice now, if he edits any pages like this again he will be blocked. For zh-hans, I was not sure who was active enough in translating for it to contact so I am glad you have undone his edits to those zh-hans (and zh-hant) pages now. Thank you for your help. seb26 20:39, 12 January 2012 (PST)

User Passant

Hey, there's a new user Passant who has been creating zh-hans articles at a high rate. Looking at his contributions, do you think he could be using an automatic translator like Google Translate? This wiki does not accept translations done automatically because they tend to be very low quality. I don't want to bother the wiki admins with it unless he really does appear to be using software to translate quickly. What do you think? Thanks, – fashnek (talk·c) 23:32, 15 January 2012 (PST)

I got wind of this as well. I know most of it is copied from the zh-hant pages, but that's not necessarily a bad thing, as long as someone fluent can confirm that it still makes sense. There's no rule against copying the text in an article. » Cooper Kid (blether) • (contreebs) 08:13, 16 January 2012 (PST)
No it is not acceptable. It has been done in the past by a number of users (zh-hant being copied to zh-hans) and the articles were all deleted as traditional Chinese is not simplified Chinese; I will delete the articles tagged by ~www~ after confirming they have been copied seb26 12:49, 16 January 2012 (PST)
Like I said, as long as it makes sense. Which apparently it doesn't. Well, I'm not pretending to know anything about Chinese, so I'll go now =) » Cooper Kid (blether) • (contreebs) 14:24, 16 January 2012 (PST)
It's indeed a serious problem than you think, Cooper kid. The coping shall not be tolerated, even though here is wikipedia.~www~ 20:55, 17 January 2012 (PST)
Were the zh-hans pages tagged straight copied or changed? If they are not the same, were the changes manual or just with a character conversion tool? seb26 20:59, 17 January 2012 (PST)

Hi, could you check if the Heavy achievements/zh-hans page (also created by Passant) was copied from Heavy achievements/zh-hant?  –  Epic Eric (T | C) 06:36, 19 January 2012 (PST)

RE:Hello, EpicEric. I did notice this page, and yes, they copied it too (cause the quote is exactly the same words). However most of the content are template, and I saw that they hadn't translated the template yet, so I decided to spare it.~www~ 06:41, 19 January 2012 (PST)

Hi ~www~

Hi ~www~, sorry for the deletion of your post :( I was trying to make my discussion page look nice. BTW do you have steam? i want to ask you about some rules and stuff thx - Lockon

Lockon

I have deleted the pages you mentioned as they almost exactly matched what I got from putting English source text through Google Translate (see [1]). I have also posted on User talk:Lockon about this. Thank you for pointing these out to me seb26 19:07, 11 February 2012 (PST)
