Single-Barrel Shotgun (Classic)

The Single-Barrel Shotgun is a weapon in the Classic Team Fortress games that is used by every class except for the Sniper, Spy, and Engineer. It fires a very tight cluster of pellets and uses one shell per shot. One of the weapon's main advantages is its firing and reloading speed. The rate of fire is so fast that the player doesn't actually need to wait for the pump animation between shots to be completed. It also reloads the entire magazine in almost 2 seconds.

Although the weapon fires fast, it deals a low amount of damage compared to other weapons. The Single-Barrel Shotgun has damage fall-off in Quake Team Fortress, meaning that its damage decreases over range. This is not the case in Team Fortress Classic, where it can be used to deal initial damage or finish off an enemy from range.
