Header quote

I recommend we use the Soldier line "Friendship is magic, maggot!" Because almost all of the classes that receive additional lines from this hat use a permutation of that phrase. Tele-viper (talk) 23:25, 29 October 2013 (PDT)

Yeah, that would be great! I was going to say use "Friendship is stupid magic" but that isnt as positive about the friendship... ErnieTheGreatest (talk) 15:59, 30 October 2013 (PDT)
Would it be at all appropriate to mention that this is clearly a reference to My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic? Or how the mane even slightly resembles Pinkie Pie's/Fluttershy's
SalaComMander (talk) 19:06, 30 October 2013 (PDT)
Unless the creator of the item says it is a reference go for it. Otherwise do not add it. Even if its by coincidence. Ashes (talk) 19:12, 30 October 2013 (PDT)
The item creator isn't Valve so anything he says is not official. At least thats what I keep getting told. So unless Valve says it is, it isnt. A pony isnt always my little pony.ErnieTheGreatest (talk) 21:49, 30 October 2013 (PDT)
The item creator can say whether or not the item was designed as a reference to MLP or not. Valve's implementation might differ ingame, yeah, but they can't stop something being designed as a reference or not. --Omolong (talk) 21:53, 30 October 2013 (PDT)
Well, I'm just guessing, because of all of the "Friendship is magic" lines that come with the hat. Alright, I won't add it.
SalaComMander (talk) 19:14, 30 October 2013 (PDT)
Actually, if it does have lines like that, it is yet another reference. ErnieTheGreatest (talk) 21:49, 30 October 2013 (PDT)
(Why did i know this would come?) Back on topic, I still don't think its a reference. Sure valve makes the lines but probably in a different way. Not to reference a show. (Which they will take it as a reference). Honestly though, I still don't find it a direct reference. (Even if it seems straight up obvious) Ashes (talk) 22:08, 30 October 2013 (PDT)
OK so basically short of having the character actually say in entirety "Hi, I'm Rarity from the show My Little Pony Friendship Is Magic" AND putting PROPERTY OF HASBRO in clear readable text visibly on the item itself, there's nothing sufficient to qualify for "a reference"? What would be sufficient to qualify as a reference to the show? Give me an example. One! Noobyorkcity (talk) 10:10, 31 October 2013 (PDT)
I feel that simply changing the quote as I recommended would be enough to drive home the semi-referential nature, without having to spell it out. If there are no objections, I'll go ahead and make the edit. In any case, the one line that everyone says that's slightly different for each one would be a better representation of the hat than one that only one class says. Ich the maker is pony addict?

Most voiceline contain 'Unicorn' and 'Pony' I'm intresting this hat because maker Made this Like a pony (Rarity spy) So Iwant answer--THIS JUST GOT SIGNED BY SPIRALNUGGETS (talk) 03:52, 7 February 2014 (PST)

The person who made the hat did nothing related to the TV show; he only modeled the hat and put it on the workshop. It was someone at Valve who decided to write and record voice lines that referenced the show. They already had the cast in the studio for the other, main Scream Fortress 2013 voice lines, might as well use them for a few more. Dogman15 (talk) 18:07, 26 February 2017 (PST)
