Hello, Timwardo!

Welcome to the Team Fortress 2 Official Wiki!

Here are a few links to get you started:

  • If you're not too familiar with editing wikis, you might like to start with Help:Editing.
  • If you already are familiar with wikiediting, you might want to try Help:Style guide.
  • Recent Changes will let you see others' contributions as they happen.
    • To make Recent Changes more useful for all users, remember to provide an edit summary in the "Summary" field before you save your changes.
    • You can set the wiki to prompt you for a summary in your preferences.
  • When posting on an article's Talk page you should add four tilde symbols or ~~~~ onto the end.
    • This will add a signature and timestamp to your comment so others can easily tell who posted it.
    • Any new sections on an article's Talk page should be added to the bottom of the page and not to the top.
    • When editing normal article pages, don't sign your contributions.
    • You can use the Signature Icon.png button in the editing toolbar to quickly add a signature.
  • If you have any questions or need any help, please feel free to leave a message for a staff member.
  • If you have trouble with anything on the wiki or you're not sure about a specific topic, feel free to join the IRC.
  • You can also customize your user page if you like.
    • When uploading images for use on your user page, please add the prefix User Timwardo to the file's name.
    • Additionally, if you would like to add any self-made content to the wiki, please do so by adding the prefix User:Timwardo/ to the page title when you create the page.

Once again, welcome to the Team Fortress 2 Wiki!

Pictogram info.png Please make use of the Show preview button. It gives you a preview of the edit you are making, allowing you to perfect your changes before you save the page. You can edit the whole article by clicking the edit button at the top of the page, which is preferable to editing multiple sections consecutively. { TidB | t | c } 21:01, 12 July 2018 (UTC)

  • I thank you for the tip TidB, but I was already aware of this. Might I ask why you left me this tip? Thank You! Timwardo (talk) 21:38, 12 July 2018 (UTC)
I saw that you edited your user page fifteen times just today, with eight edits being done in under ten minutes. It's not a huge problem, but it clutters the recent changes a bit which makes it harder to track other edits, so it's preferred to make fewer, but more significant ones. Thank you~ { TidB | t | c } 21:45, 12 July 2018 (UTC)
Thanks for the clarification, and I was mostly trying to fix the Userboxes and format them with the other parts of the page. Most of the edits were not done with the Info and Info box in mind. Thank you and I'll keep that in mind! Timwardo (talk) 21:49, 12 July 2018 (UTC)

An unusual revert.

Per the Trivia Style guide, you are normally owed and explanation for the revert.

The fact that you contributed is a mechanism of Unusual items. Mechanisms or functions of items are discussed in lead or other sections high in the page. Just because knowledge of a particular mechanism is uncommon or undiscussed, that does not make it Trivia, just a possible omission form the page. Because I patrolled your contribution, I learned how to make the Community Sparkle of the only Unusual I will ever own visible.

How to Adjust Unusual could be added to the lead paragraphs. M I K A D O 282 oOOOOo oo oo (talk) (Help Wanted!) 01:05, 31 January 2019 (UTC)

  • Thanks User:Mikado282, im trying to be a contributor, but right now its hard as most of the stuff is out of my league or already done. Always grateful for the explanation, and congrats on getting a Wiki Cap Timwardo (talk) 20:36, 31 January 2019 (UTC)
    • (re: out of your league) Temple Grandin advises that a way to learn how to do technical writing it to read and study a lot of other people's technical writing. I read a lot of technical writing as a hobby, like popular technology and geography magazines. I also read World Book as a kid. Now I read Wikipedia at bedtime. You could look at other articles for ideas of how to add the Adjust Unusual explanation to the page. You can practice in your user space and ask for help or review (be sure to use Preview a lot). Editing

Hey dude, I'll make this quick:

Please make several changes to a page at the same time instead of 500 small edits. Makes for less clutter. Thanks, and keep up the good work! :) Faghetti V.2 (talk) 20:46, 15 February 2019 (UTC)

  • No problem, I usually try to focus on categories to reduce scroll time. Timwardo (talk) 20:47, 15 February 2019 (UTC)
    • While that sounds okay, categories are mostly for when just a section of a page needs an update specifically. Since you are changing so much of it, you should just do it all at once ;) Faghetti V.2 (talk) 20:49, 15 February 2019 (UTC)
