The Sergeant's Drill Hat is a headwear item for the Soldier and was chosen by Valve to be released with the second wave of community-contributed content due to its outstanding quality. It appears as a greenish-brown campaign hat with a Team Fortress emblem on the front.
Trivia
- This style of hat is worn today by army drill sergeants, park rangers, and various law enforcement officers.
- Although the hat mostly resembles Sergeant Hartman's hat from the film Full Metal Jacket (which the description references), Gerre has stated in an interview that he made the hat for the Soldier because it fit his personality. However both the Soldier and Sergeant Hartman have a very similar personality; they both yell and degrade the men under their command. It also bears a slight similarity to the hat worn by Dwight T. Barnes and Sharpe from Template:W.
- A BLU version of this hat was released by Gerre but the normal, green version was the version accepted by Valve.[1]
- This item is one of two contributed items made by Gerre, the other being the Physician's Procedure Mask.
- The hat description was written by peregrine7. It was slightly edited by Valve.
- While it isn't apparent at first this hat does allow the soldiers elusive eyes to be seen while taunting.
