About Me
So, yeah, when the link to my profile page was plastered on the front page when I got my Wiki Cap, I figured that I should probably actually make this page worth looking at. Now that it's not linked there anymore, I could probably just slack off, but meh, I hate to waste work.
I first started editing the wiki back when it used to be at its old site. I was looking up some information about TF2 when I was first starting out, and found the site to be extremely helpful, so I figured that as I got to know the game a bit better I may as well help others by contributing to it. I moved here along with the majority of the editors when it became the official Wiki, and I've been here ever since.
I mainly work on the strategy part of the Wiki, namely the Community Strategies section. Keeping an eye on that part of the page is actually tougher than you would think since that's where most of the one-shot and twitch edits seem to go. Normally I try to just mesh any edits that new users make into existing lines, since nobody likes having their work removed, but this isn't always possible when people blatantly ignore existing lines and throw capitalization and grammar to the wind.
I also dabble in template work, though usually I leave that to the ones who actually know how templates work. Word to the wise, screwing with templates can break more than just the page you're working on, so ask before doing.
You can usually find me on the Wiki IRC channel, though usually I'm idling or at work if it's Monday through Thursday afternoon. The rest of the time though, feel free to ring me up for whatever.
A few tips to newer editors
Since I figure that most of the page views coming here are because of my being on the Wiki Cap list, I thought that I may as well share some tips about how to positively contribute to the Wiki:
Check the active discussions!
You can certainly edit the Wiki by browsing pages and adding bits and pieces here and there, but remember that there's still lots of major projects that need help. In particular, you may want to look at any discussions here and see what's going on.
If you can, help translate in other languages
While the English Wiki is the primary source for most players, one of the biggest ongoing projects here is translating all the information into other languages. Much of the information in other languages is either outdated or incomplete, so helping other translators complete their work is a great way to help the Wiki.
Come onto IRC!
If looking at active discussions is too slow for you, then joining our IRC channel can help you to find things to do as well. Lots of admins are often online, so if you have questions or problems that need to be solved, they can definitely help you. Our IRC groupies are very friendly and will never hesitate to help anybody who asks!
