The Companion Cube Pin is a promotional cosmetic item for all classes. It is a team-colored portal with the Weighted Companion Cube, from the video game Portal, floating within.

This item was awarded in Genuine quality to players who pre-purchased Portal 2 on Steam before April 19, 2011.[1]

November 19, 2010 Patch

  • [Undocumented] The Companion Cube Pin was added to the game.

December 2, 2010 Patch

April 20, 2011 Patch

  • All players who earned the Companion Cube Pin via preordering Portal 2 had their pin upgraded to Genuine Quality, and it became tradable.

September 17, 2014 Patch

  • Added the Limited attribute to the Companion Cube Pin.

  • Four Vintage Companion Cube Pins were given to play-testers of Portal 2 at PAX 2010 prior to the item's official release.[2]
    • A fifth Vintage Companion Cube Pin was awarded to another player for unknown reasons.
