War historians will appreciate the original medigun— still handy even though the invuln function shorted out after its first use.
— Quick-Fix publicity blurb

The Quick-Fix is a secondary weapon for the Medic. It is a prototype Medi Gun with a set of three gauges and a graduated cylinder for a body. The main gun is coupled with a medicinal reactor backpack with glowing portions that replaces Medic's default backpack.

This Medi Gun has a 40% faster heal and 25% faster ÜberCharge build rate compared to the default Medi Gun. It lacks the ability to overheal patients, but can maintain an overheal previously applied on a target by other means. Additionally, should the player train the weapon on a faster ally, they will be able to move at the same speed as their healing target. When the ÜberCharge is deployed, the patient and the Medic will be healed at triple the healing rate, and become immune to movement effects such as knockback, stun, and slowdown, including compression blasts; however, the target will not become invulnerable to attack. Additionally, if the Medic deploys the ÜberCharge but does not target an ally, he is healed at the normal rate.

Whenever the patient uses an explosive jump (except Detonator and Sentry jumping), the Medic will be shot upward as well. The Medic will be launched with equal force in the same direction.

The Quick-Fix was previously tested in Team Fortress 2 Beta. The Beta Quick-Fix, a separate variant of the weapon, is still available for use in the beta.

Bugs

  • Healing Heavies under the effects of the Dalokohs Bar or Fishcake will not restore their health past the default 300 HP.
  • Being set on Fire will cause the player to lose the team-colored overlay when under the effects of the ÜberCharge.
  • Dying during an ÜberCharge may cause the ÜberCharge sound effect to play until the player disconnects or map changes, much like a previously patched bug with the Kritzkrieg.
  • Team color issues:
    • The backpack of the Quick-Fix will display the wrong teams colors after switching teams.
    • Activating the ÜberCharge on a disguised Spy provides them with a healing aura of their team color instead of the disguised team's color.
  • Backpack issues:
    • A Spy disguised as a Medic with the Quick-Fix equipped will have the regular Medic backpack.
    • Occasionally the backpack of the Quick-Fix will freeze in mid-air while the player moves away, causing the player to appear without a pack.
  • Despite stating otherwise, the Übercharge increases healing by 200% to 300% of normal, rather than raising it 300%

Trivia

  • The model for the Quick-Fix was previously shown in concept art images for Meet the Medic, photographed in Valve Headquarters.
    • The Medic could be seen holding the Quick-Fix before the Über Update was revealed in the final page of Meet the Director.
  • The Quick-Fix was canonically the Medic's first healing gun, and was the prototype for the Medi Gun.[1]
  • The Quick-Fix was able to make the Heavy invulnerable in Meet the Medic, even though it cannot in-game; this is due to the invulnerability function shorting out after its first use.[2]
  • The Quick-Fix's Übercharge was known as the Megaheal in the beta.
  • The top of the Quick-Fix has a white splotch that drips down to the left; it is implied to be bird droppings from the Medics' pet doves.
  • A "Quick Fix" in medical or industrial-repair terms refers to a hurried or temporary fix of a problem or injury. These remedies may not always work or may prove ineffective to stopping the problem entirely, referencing that the Quick-Fix's Übercharge can still result in the death of both the Medic and his patient if enough damage is taken.
