The Duck Journal is an action item for all classes.. It is a yellow, rubber duck attached to the torso of the player wearing it. This item increases the amount of drop rate for ducks and has a counter labeled Duckstreaks.

Equipping the Duck Journal will allow the player to earn Duckstreaks which function similar to a Killstreak Kit but with no added visual effect. All kills obtained while duckstreaks effects will show a duck and the current streak in the kill feed.

The Duck Journal ranks up via interacting with ducks dropped by enemies and allies. Duck XP is broken down into the following categories:

-Creating Ducks by killing enemy players will award 3 Duck XP per Duck dropped.

-Capturing enemy Ducks will award 3 Duck XP per Duck captured.

-Recovering allied Ducks will award 1 Duck XP per Duck recovered.

-Picking up ducks spawned from captured Objectives will award 3 Duck XP per Duck collected.

-Allies collecting Ducks that you created will award 3 Duck XP per Duck.

-Collecting Bonus Ducks (Announced upon spawning by Merasmus, and listed as 'Quackston Hales' in the Duck Journal) will award 50 Duck XP per Bonus Duck collected.

Ducks will share the skin of the class they were dropped from, and possess a team-colored sheen from the team they were dropped from.

Bonus Ducks are larger than regular Ducks, and have the Quackston Hale skin.

Using Duck Tokens on a Duck Journal will increase its' Duck Power, up to a maximum of 5. The higher the Duck Power of a Duck Journal, the more Ducks will be dropped for kills made by the player using it.

The Duck Journal possesses both a unique Killstreak counter and unique rankings, similar to a Strange weapon. Ranking up a Duck Journal is done via collecting 5000 Duck XP worth of ducks over any period of time, at which point the rank up will be announced in a manner similar to a Killstreak notification. The Duck Journal's prefix will change and Duck XP will be reset to zero upon a rank up.

Duck Journal duckstreaks are announced in a manner identical to killstreaks, with duck-related killstreak rankings (such as 'Unflappable' instead of 'Unstoppable').

Using a Duck Journal with the Action Item button will cause a quacking sound to play.

Viewing the Duck Journal leaderboards (done by using the Duck Journal from the inventory) will display your Duck XP and Duck XP Levels in relation to your Steam Friends list. It also has a section for showing the breakdown of your Duck XP into the categories listed above.
