New gun is unfair to tiny baby enemies.
The Heavy, upon receiving his giant new gun

The Brass Beast is a primary weapon for the Heavy and was released as part of the Hibernating Bear set. It is inspired by historic mid-1800's gatling guns, with brass plating and modifications that allow it to be carried and fired with ease.

Bugs

  • Because of the placement of the chain and ammo drum, the Brass Beast will clip through the Heavy's left hand and right arm when taunting.
  • Despite its 3rd-person view barrel being roughly the same size as the Minigun and Natascha the view model appears smaller and lowered.

Trivia

  • The penalties of the Brass Beast are similar to that of the Heavy prior to the April 28, 2010 Patch, having both slower wind-up/down time and slower movement speed while the gun is deployed. The penalties are even greater however, in order to balance the increased damage.
  • The Brass Beast is similar in appearance to the original British 1865 Gatling Gun. It also appears to have an attached Broadwell Drum, though mounted on the side and fed into the main gun via ammunition chain (the original Broadwell Drum was mounted above the gun, and was essentially 'gravity-operated').
