The Demoman on heavy grenades

The Iron Bomber is a community-created primary weapon for the Demoman. It is a quad-barreled grenade launcher with slightly-longer barrels, a wooden foregrip and stock, and a large, circular, flip-up front sight.

The grenades fired by the Iron Bomber are spherical in shape, glow, and do not bounce or roll much at all, leaving them to explode in mostly the same place as where they first collided with an object (aside from the effects of gravity). In addition, they have a 15% smaller blast radius (except for the Demoman who fired it).

The Iron Bomber was contributed to the Steam Workshop under the name "The Scotch Guardian".

Update history

December 22, 2014 Patch (Smissmas 2014)

  • The Iron Bomber was added to the game.

February 11, 2015 Patch #1

  • Fixed missing Killstreak sheen effects for the Iron Bomber.

July 2, 2015 Patch

  • Removed damage penalty on self-detonate
  • Reduced radius penalty from -20% to -15%

Bugs

  • The Iron Bomber uses the same reload animation as the Grenade Launcher, and shows bombs being inserted into the bottom left of the chambers and not actually being inserted into the slots.
  • Due to how the model is rigged, the barrels don't spin during the firing animation.

Trivia

  • The Iron Bomber's barrels were intended to turn after firing, as seen in the video on the item's submission page, but these animations were left out upon release.
