The Back Scratcher is a melee weapon for the Pyro. It appears as a gardening rake, consisting of a wooden handle and green metal head. The teeth on the head are bloodstained.
When equipped, this weapon increases melee damage by 25% and raises healing from health packs by 50%. As a result, small and medium health packs bestow 54 and 132 health respectively. However, there is an overall cost of 75% slower healing from Medics, Dispensers, and the Payload cart. Players are therefore forced to rely less on continual healing and more on health packs scattered around the map.
As an interesting bonus, the rate at which a Medic's ÜberCharge is filled is not slowed, allowing heavily injured Pyros to greatly build up an ÜberCharge.

Bugs
- Health received from a Medic using the Crusader's Crossbow heals as per normal instead of at a hampered rate.
- Due to the size of the head of the rake, it clips significantly with the Pyro's leg when taunting.

- The Back Scratcher was originally a skin for the Axtinguisher in the fan-made Fancy vs. Nasty Update.
- The stats for the Back Scratcher were originally given to The Endless Carnage: a Pyro melee weapon from the fan-made Advanced Weaponiser.
