- In popular culture, and sometimes in real life, a snack vendor's hat would sometimes be topped with a plastic replica of whatever snack food the vendor is passing out at a sports game.
- The term "hot dogger" usually refers to a person whose hobby is to make and/or sell hot dogs.
- The terms "hot dogger" or "hot dogging" also refer to someone in sports who shows off and generally acts in an unsportsmanlike manner, which the Scout is very well known for doing.
