Mmmh, mmmh!
The Pyro

The Vintage Merryweather is a community-created headwear item for the Pyro and was chosen by Valve to be released with the second wave of community-contributed content due to its outstanding quality. It is modelled after a style of fireman's helmet commonly used by British fire brigades from the Victorian era.

Trivia

  • This is the second hat that doesn't reference the Pyro's apparent lack of sanity, the first being the Brigade helm. Perhaps coincidentally, they're both inspired by firemen.
  • Merryweather helmets were used in the mid- to late-1800's in British fire brigades and were made of metal or plastic.
  • This is the second 'vintage' hat, the other being the Vintage tyrolean. This is referenced in the game files, where files associated with the Vintage merryweather are listed under the name "pyrolean", a portmanteau of "Pyro" and "tyrolean".
