Welcome to Rotunda, a steam engine workshop turned secret doomsday storage facility, now abandoned. Fight on trains, fight around trains, and fight for trains!
Rotunda publicity blurb

Rotunda is a community-created King of the Hill map. The map is set in a somewhat abandoned train depot in south east Germany, with both teams fighting over a reactor with 2 steam locomotives on each side. This map has been partially inspired by the open layouts of Nucleus and Harvest.

Rotunda was contributed to the Steam Workshop.

Locations

  • Spawn yard: A yard straight out of the spawn room, contains an entrance to the Tunnels, a main path to the point, as well as an infinitely long train.
  • Tunnels: Straight out of spawn, some underground tunnels can be found under a hatch lifting up two shipping containers leading to directly under the point.
  • Outer train depot: The outer section train depot conists of a large ring around the inner depot.
  • Inner train depot: The main control point, contains an upper level and a lower level.
  • Lower depot catwalk: A small catwalk near the control point, connects to a small building that houses a medium health pack.

Trivia

  • A Wiki Cap along with some Soldier gibs and an Intelligence briefcase can be found in BLU's tunnels. This is a reference to one of the creators owning a Wiki Cap.[1]
  • Outside the RED spawn, a room can be found out of bounds containing an Engineer and Heavy doing the Kazotsky Kick and credits to the map developers.
  • A small blue locomotive can be found riding around the upper depot catwalk, which also follows the same track as one of the spectator cameras for the main area.
  • A summit cross can be found on the top of the mountain in the skybox, which is common in Germany.
  • A RED shipping container with blue paint on it and blue metal sheets attached can be found in the BLU spawn yard.
  • The locomotive models on the point are DRG Class 81.[2]
    • In German practice, the model's locomotive number plate starts with the DRG locomotive class, 81 in this case.
    • The remainder of the full plate number, 6745, is the signature of FGD5, the model's creator.[2]

Bugs

  • The far end of the infinite train at spawn stops rendering while it is still in view.[3]
